"optional" essay?

has anyone actually NOT submitted an essay, and gotten into FSU?

I think I kinda messed up on it...I didn't really answer the question, unfortunately. My essay was still great, but I'm not sure if they'll understand.
I know I have good stats and everything (in state, top 5% of class, public high school, 1330//2020 SAT, rigorous senior class schedule, good ECs and awards) but I'm still nervous! =/

Anyone have a similar story?

Also, I had computer trouble, and haven't been able to submit my residency form yet. Is that a problem?

a couple of my friends got in w/o writing the essay.

My friend just applied w/o writing an essay. He has a 3.86 UW/4.5W and class rank #15/103 in a public instate magnet high school. He got a 1340 on his SAT I. Funny story though- they never got the transcripts, so we had to drive to our guidance counselors house during winter break to have her sign them, so we could fax them and send them via USPS as well. Everything got in at 4:30 pm on 1/2 hahaha (procrastination at its finest!)

haha, nice. pistolen08, thanks for your post. my stats are almost exactly the same as your friend ( 3.7 UW/4.5 W, 12th of 460ish in public instate school, 1330 SAT).

:D

I think if you have the grades and the test scores, the essay and ECs are not major factors. If you are borderline, a good essay and activities could tip the scale in your favor.

Procrastination gets you a very high housing priority number. :(
