Optional Form

So I got an e-mail from Yale the other day about my NA heritage. They gave me an optional form which would allow me to expand upon my heritage/descent/culture and also provide my registration information for my tribe. I filled it out and send it back in with a little cutesy remark (and I got a cute reply back from an actual adcom =D)

Getting back on track: Would Yale have bothered sending me this or would the adcom have bothered replying with a cute response if I either a) had no chance or b) was already rejected/deferred?

i wouldn't try to over-analyze the gesture. kids of native american descent are rare, so i guess they wouldn't flat out reject you. but beyond that i can't really glean any other "hidden message" behind it.

the same thing happened to me! im a bit nervous.. especially since im just in the process of enrolling!

Are you NA too? If so, what tribe?

choctaw! only 3/8 though. my mom is black and i have a white grandfather. you?

micmac. 3/8 as well! id explain my breakdown, but its all sorts of messed up. =]

i actually am enrolled though, Aroostock Band, because my grandmother grew up on a res and is an elder/tribal council

if we both get in we'll have to chillax sometime =D

definitely! im from georgia? you? our band was just recgonized in 1995, so this enrollment thing has proved harder than i thought. how did you respond to that form?

Massachusetts, but my tribe is in northern Maine. My mom moved here for a job opportunity many and many a year ago, but the rest of my family is up there.

I just wrote about my grandparents for the descent part (ill let them do the math), gave them my band number and then for the additional comments/thoughts, I just left it blank since my main essay was about going to the sundance with my grandmotherr

I'm not native american (actually far from it, first-generation american), but I also received a request for additional information on my application (unrelated to ethnicity/race issues). It's about details on my application.

Does this mean I'm being considered still? Or is it too early, because some application materials haven't even been processed yet?

@pianista:
what did they ask for, if you don't mind me asking?
