Hey to all and, namely, Native American Stanford applicants.

So, I am part Native American (Chippewa Lac du Flambeau tribe) and therefore put down American Indian as part of my ethnicity on the CommonApp.
Some schools that I am applying to (well, basically only UW-Seattle) recommend that Native applicants send documentation of their heritage and, as a result, the U will most likely pay greater attention to these applicants for scholarships, admission, etc. It says this right on the application.

So, I sent an e-mail to all of my CommonApp schools asking if they want this further documentation and most said no, with the exception of Stanford who said no to the documentation, but that I will be sent a supplement once I submit my application which will give me a chance to explain my heritage.

I know there was a thread on here earlier about this supplement, so I just want you to know that it is indeed real. However, the admissions counselor (she was very cool and is actually the head counselor for Native applicants) said that it is quite short and is just a means by which to explain one's heritage further.

I just thought it was both unique and helpful so I thought I should post it on here. If anyone has further questions, let me know.

Peace!
