Hi guys,
I have decided to send UChicago a music supplement since my work as a musician has been the linchpin of my extracurriculars for the last few years. My music teacher has written me a fantastic recommendation that I really want the adcom to see. My question is, how do I send it to them? Should I scan the document to my computer and then upload it to my uchicago account? If so then should it go into the portfolio or the additional documents section? On the website it says teacher recommendations must come directly from the institution and I was wondering if this applied to optional recommendations as well. Would they accept the recommendation if I scan the hard copy and upload to my account?

From UChicago website:

"SUPPLEMENTAL MATERIALS
You may submit supporting materials for music, theater and dance, or visual arts and film. You may also submit an additional recommendation from anyone who knows you well (e.g., coach, music or foreign language teacher, member of your community).

You may also submit a short creative writing sample or scientific research abstract.

Please submit these items digitally through the “Portfolio” section of your UChicago Account. We will accept supplemental materials even after submitting your application (November 15th for Early Action; January 15th for Regular Decision)."

If I remember correctly the supplemental rec can also be uploaded to the common app by the writer.
Good luck
