Anyone want to share what they are doing for their optional submission (or if they are doing one?) for WM?.\ Also, does it help to do the optional interview? What are the chances of success with ED v. RD?

As an out of state applicant, I'm looking for the one thing that will separate me from the Rest. Here's my stats

SAT: 1990
Top 8% of prep school
3.74 GPA (UW)
Class Pres., 4 yr. Varsity athlete, and other EC's, including community service
3 AP's, honors courses

when I applied back in 2004 I sent in a photo pasted on a sheet of paper of me wearing a cape that said "Super-Democrat." Under the photo it said "Me lobbying for my cause at NYLC" (a leadership conference). Seemed to have worked, since I got in and am now in my sophomore year.

I used an essay I wrote for another school.

ED v. RD can be found in the common data set... I believe ED acceptance rate is higher, but I woudn't swear to it. Go to www.wm.edu and search for "common data set" with the search function on the left hand side.

I wrote about being a twin and how it feels to look exactly the same as someone else. I think the optional submission is yet another way of conveying your interest and showing your personality. I'll say it again...........William and Mary knew that they were my first choice for college. I made sure that there was no doubt, if I were to be accepted, I would come. I was not a stellar applicant maybe. I had low SAT's 1290 but had a 31 ACT. I was right up there in the top 3% of a large graduating class, took a very challenging curriculum in high school, had pretty good EC's, over a 4.0GPA, and AP's. I'm a Sophomore and feel that W&M is a good fit for me. I am happy to be here and don't find the workload too much. I was used to working hard so it's no problem. I have met the most amazing people. Everyone is nice and friendly. Lot's of stuff to do. Professors REALLY CARE about you learning and doing well in their class. Come to William and Mary. You won't be sorry.

I'm OOS and skipped the optional essay. Got accepted anyway.
By the way, I concur with pedsox. Come to W&M if you get accepted. Profs are awesome, students are great.
