Acceptance Rates for ED v. RD

My friend's child is a senior who loves W&M. It is definitely Senior's first choice. Senior wants to apply ED, but Senior's Mom is concerned about being locked in without first knowing details of financial aid.

Does anyone have the acceptance rates for ED v. RD so that this family can make a more informed decision? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

Senior is in-state. I don't know test scores or GPA.

Thanks in advance.

From what I saw on the common data set for 2005-2006, acceptance rates for ED was about 50%. There were about 1,000 applicants and about 500 were accepted.

Thanks for the info. I will pass it along.

What financial details? W&M instate is cheap - senior won't find a better deal anywhere else.

"W&M instate is cheap - senior won't find a better deal anywhere else."

Agreed.

you'd be hardpressed to find anything cheaper than instate tuition...there are others that are probably lower-i think UVa and WM are almost equivalent in price within $2000 or less, but any financial aid package would offset instate tuition differences

She should apply ED if it is her first choice! Wm and Mary gives only a few merit scholarships but offers the Monroe program for top candidates. She will be treated fairly on the basis of her EFC and it is a brilliant education for the instate price

doesn't the stats say that it is 50%for ED and ~30%for RD?

I wonder how many of those applying ED are out of state.
