<p>so I wrote my optional essay (the favorite book, movie, music,etc) but I'm not sure if the essay is supposed to be connected to a theme. Is it just supposed to be a list of a few things we like or does it have to connect to a general theme? </p>

<p>It can be whatever you want it to be. Some people do lists. I wrote an essay and got in EA. It is up to you though.</p>
<p>I wrote a couple paragraphs on a single book, and that got me in. If you want I can PM it to you.</p>
<p>I wrote a page long list (three-columned) and explained why I chose one from each category within a sentence; I didn’t want to waste their time reading an extended response on an optional question. I got in EA.</p>
