Optional "What Else Would You Like Us To Know?"

For anyone who filled this out, where did you do so on the Common App? Do you just put this information in "Additional Information"?

Thanks!

yes, I think putting it in the Additional Information box would be appropriate

Thanks! Anyone else?

yeah... addtl info will be it

You most definitely should put something in there that better helps them understand who you are. If I were an adcom, and was reading an app that had nothing added, I would think it was because either the person wasn't that interested in the school, was lazy, or had nothing else about him or her that was interesting.

I disagree, sunshadow. I think that the add'l information section should only be used if there is something really important that absolutely cannot fit anywhere else on the app; for example, some extenuating circumstances like illness in the family.

I, for one, put absolutely nothing in that box and got accepted (I was also completely hookless, FYI). I know others who did not put in add'l info and got accepted to other amazing schools. For me, I felt like I had put everything I wanted them to know in the app itself. The essays allowed me to share interesting things about myself that were not numbers or lists. I suggest using the essays as an opportunity first, before defaulting to the additional info section.

btlesgirl, did you end up writing an essay for the "What Else Would You Like Us to Know?" section? That section seems to be different from the additional info section, which is why I was wondering whether it would be appropriate to put the essay there. On Pton's website, there is actually that page for "What Else..."? but it is not on the Common App site. Thanks for your help!

I'm also hookless - any advice for a hookless person from a hookless person? :) Thanks!

I put an essay for the additional thing about my weight loss cerca 4th grade. It was a light essay and I think it provided more depth to my application.

Nope, I didn't write an essay for that section, either.
And advice: work hard and don't give up hope! Don't let anybody tell you that you can't reach for the stars because you don't have a "hook"!!

I just included a paragraph to explain about a course conflict.
