My daughter is very active with the high school orchestra. She is not planning to study music and College. Does anyone know if there are Community Orchestra type options for students?
My D (not a Music major or Minor) has been in the Symphony Orchestra this year and last. Rehearsals are 5 hours/ week and count as a 1-credit class. Many of the members are Music majors but certainly not all. They have 3 concerts per semester (different music started every 5 weeks or so). Students audition at the start of Fall semester.
Another less time-consuming option is the University Orchestra, which rehearses for (I think) 2 hrs/wk and has one concert each semester. I don’t think this group requires an audition. My D will likely join this group for junior year as she has some required classes to fit in 1st semester and will be studying abroad 2nd semester.
