I'm a freshman bio pre-med etc etc major and want to know whether its a good idea to take orgo during the summer at another school.

generally not.

if you're thinking of taking it at a community college over the summer to get it out of the way & for an easier better grade... you certainly could.
However, you are pre-med so you'll need the really strong background in chemistry to survive other courses, like biochem. So, you might not want to take the easy route out because it could hurt you later.

med schools look down on taking any of the pre-med required sciences at CCs. All those should be taken at your home university. If you have extenuating circumstances, then taking them at another 4 year university is acceptable but certainly not encouraged. This has far less to do with quality of courses/profs, as it does the opinions of medical schools.

Would Med Schools mind if you took it at an equal caliber school? Like my friend at Duke took orgo over the summer at Columbia this past summer.
