So I am scheduled to attend the 4th session of orientation (July 25th), does this mean that many classes will already be full from the previous 3 sessions?

Thanks!

IIRC, more seats in many classes are opened up in a cascading sequence as the orientations progress.

Great, thanks!

Even though it probably is too late: it’s best to be in the front of the crowd, not behind.

too late?

10 char

too late in the sense where orientation spots are already filled up.

Wait you have to sign up for classes before orientation? I tried a couple weeks ago, but it gave me no option

My son’s orientation date is July 19. Is that when he signs up for classes or is it possible to do it online sooner? Thanks.

I think it might be like that because it goes like this: right now we just look at what classes we want to take. on july 8 we can begin putting classes into our shopping cart, they recommend at least ten and depending on when your orientation day is you go there with your list of classes and proposed schedule (times of your classes with class names and stuff) and orientation day is when you actually enroll in classes.

Hope this helps! ^_^

How do you even add classes to the shopping cart? >.< Currently, I am searching classes, but I don’t see any option to “add to shopping cart” D:

the option to add it to the shopping cart won’t be available until July 8

Thanks for the info, socal.

@videodima You’ll have a chance to sign up during orientation.

@calv1n Yes at orientation but he needs to know what classes he wants to take already before going there to have a better chance of actually getting them. (My suggestion is to have at least 6 classes in the shopping cart. 3 that he really wants and 3 as back up).

@monkeyshinobi Don’t worry, you’ll see the option sooner or later. It’s hard to miss.

To all: Good luck with finding classes and getting them! Orientation will be fun! And don’t be shy to talk to new people! Other people are going to be in the same situation of not knowing anyone so you might as well find a best buddy at that time! Trust me, the people that I met during Orientation turned out to be my best friends.

Also, i’ll throw this out there. On Facebook, I created a group for UCSC students, if you would like to join

search: Official Group of UCSC Students
or
copy and paste this: ?sk=group_229965327018211
(copy and paste after facebook.com)

The main purpose of it is to connect UCSC students together but also other things like sell your books, advertise for roommates, help find classes, ask questions, and much more!

If you do join, the only request I ask is that you invite your future or current UCSC friends into the group.
