UCR Orientation

**
Check IN**
My mom took me there, and my brother happened to also be there in the car. I didn't know what to expect, it was going to be two days, the entire weekend. I brought one bag of things, I didn't think I would need any more. It was quite early so I was still drowsy, but when we arrived there we had no idea where to go. Fortunately there were signs, which we followed and finally ended up at the pentland area. The houses were impressive to look at, and I did plenty of looking when I started eating a pastry given free for us. Anyway there were lines for checking in, but it didn't seem that long so I followed my usual mentality and went in later. Unfortunately when I did go in, I found out it was a lot longer than it seemed becuase what I perceived as the end was actually the beginning and the end sneaked around the corner hiding itself from the world like a sad emo kid. Whatever, I was in the middle, and I hated waiting. I wished I broken out of my shell earlier becuase I saw some hot girls and overheard some cool conversations. But I stood there petrified and talked to no one. When the line started moving, it moved fast, it was no time before I got my folder of stuff and key to my room. The key would cost me $70 if I lost it.

Rooms are cool**
So the next sensible thing to do was to find my room and mark my territory. While walking I saw some old classmates, but the kind that I never talked to before. Anyway I dropped my stuff off at the room they gave me. It was pretty nice, pretty definitive divide down the center, two beds, two closets, but the fridge was on my side. After doing so, I brought my folder and went out to chill in the lounge. There I met some interesting people, as we made small talk, where we're from, what our majors were. It grew from me and this football player to include 4 other asian guys and this white guy. Periodically we were interrupted by girls trying to find their room, and we constantly had to tell them it was downstairs. But this one girl joined our conversation, adding estrogen to the testostorone inhabited area. I was just glad she was hot. We ended up talking about weird stuff like the ranks of different asians, how viets are the most ghetto, and this one guy really wanted a black friend becuase his high school didn't have many black people. But as time came we all had to leave and join the festivities.
**
Bear Facts Welcome**
Each person was assigned to a counsoler which is already a junior or senior, usually sharing the major you chose. I had this one white chick, Courtney. Becuase I'm in the engineering feild there were 15 guys and 1 girl. I got along with most of them. Courtney was desperately trying to drill spirit into us, but failing. When she finally gave up, we started going to the kick-off.
**
Kick-off**
It was in the theatre and we watched this film on screen. It was the only rock I heard for the next two days, Sleep now in the fire by Rage against the machine. After that, the mascot came in and started dancing, and threw out T shirts.
**
Lunch**
lol Something I actually wanted.
**
Intro to the college**
Went to the college of engineering and there we sat through them talking, learn a few things.
**
PLAYFAIR**
Typical activity thing that makes you get to know new people. It was in the gym and there were music loudly playing, I hate modern music. First we linked together by arms and then ran around the place. Then we were constantly divided into groups and made to talk to them, it was alright. It's weird how common a name Huy is. It annoyed me becuase I saw plenty of hot girls, but never had the luck to actually get in a group with one.
**
Dinner and Expo**
lol. Met with an Andy, an old friend, at dinner sat and talked with him. He worked at Anime Expo as an escort for the guests. And he met David Hayter, and since Hayter was so nice, Andy ended up with a Solid Snake voice mail. I'm sure all the MGS fans are jealous as hell. Anyways after dinner we went to the expo. The expo was just a bunch of clubs, fraternities, and sororities trying to get some fresh blood. I didn't feel like doing it, but things got boring so we ended up doing looking around. We all had this slip of paper, and whoever fills in 10 qualifies for a prize. Andy did it, and he ended up with this huge basket, but becuase it was affiliated wth the catholic club and that it was huge he gave it to me. I asked to put it back in my dorm, I went walking with a huge basket in my hand. It was best of the prizes, it had shirts and cups and a cookbook in it. It took me a while to go back, becuase I forgot where my building was, and that buildings weren't in any definitive alphabetical order. I finally found where F was. In it I was just cooling off, oh yeah Riverside is really hot and on that day it was humid, and I just spent that hour or so walking around. I looked at the schedule and the next event didn't seem that interesting, but soon I got bored, so I headed out. I saw a group of girls, I joined them. Apparently the they were there was becuase they had girl problems, that's all I wanted to know. We found our ways, and we seperated.
**
Common Ground and Social Issues**
Both events were overly serious and uncomfortable. Common Ground was an event where people shared some intimate and deep revelations like those that support gay marriage and who has been through sexual abuse. Social Issues was a little lighter, it was just a few skits about what could happen, but nothing people really care about. Like it was against marujuana and alcohol. Afterwards we were given the chance to do stuff like rock climbing or watch a movie. I had enough trouble climbing up to my bed, I'm afraid of heights. So I didn't go out and do anything, so what, shut up.
**
Day 2**
There wasn't much on the second day. After breakfast we went to plan our schedule and then lunch and finally registering for our classes. There was a lot of waiting in line that day. For registering there was only one room for engineers, so it felt like forever in line. Found out I didn't do my statement of legal residence than more line waiting for getting the school ID. And finally another line for checking out. >.>

are u a transfer stud ? i thought it was only 1 day for orientation

No, I'm a resident. It's definitely two days.
