Orientation

Hey guys,

I am an international Student. My question:
Since I need to actually fly to America, do I attend the orientation session that is right before the academic semester? That is at least what the website says. However, wouldn't that mean that I will get some classes that I don't want? Isn't that a disadvantage for international students?

Yes, it is. But it’s not just international students, it’s a disadvantage to anyone who does orientation later in the summer. Some advisors will allow you to sign up for classes (if you have a list of ones you know you want/need to take) earlier in the summer if you e-mail them. I know I signed up for classes three weeks before my orientation, and I went to the very first one. But don’t worry too much. Freshmen usually have a pretty strict schedule they have to take, so it’s only a matter of picking one elective or so- and even if the one you want is full, there is a good chance a spot will open up during the first week of classes.
