Is it really true that they allot a certain amount of classes available per session or is it really best to get the earliest date? Also, How exactly do you sign up for your classes? Do I bring my laptop?

Admissions confirms that they do reserve spots for each session so everyone has the same chance of getting the classes they want. You use their computers and have help from registration staff as it’s really a training session on how to use the Gold system. It’s smart to have several proposed schedules ready to go when you show up so if you don’t get your first choice you have several back ups. The available classes should be posted on the website in advance of registration so this would be possible. Also, might be prudent to check out ratemyprofessor.com for help in selecting the best profs/classes.

This is something you can quickly answer with an online search. Type the following 3 words into the search box on the ucsb website: orientation fair enrollment. The first hit has your answer. Or if you prefer type the following 4 words into google: ucsb orientation fair enrollment

oh ok great! I’ll definitely make a list of possible classes before I go! thanks :)
