Anyone know if we must sign up for orientation by may 1 or is that just the deadline for housing and commitment?

I don’t know that it’s mandatory to sign up by May 1, but you should really register ASAP. Sessions DO fill up. Check out the site below, and PAY ATTENTION to the lists of what you should do before you go (including taking the math placement test), as well as the lists of what to bring. You wouldn’t believe the number of students who every year claim that they never knew that they needed to bring sheets to orientation, that they needed to take the math placement test, that they needed to get a student ID, etc. etc. (D2 has been working for the Orientation office since midway through freshman year and has seen/heard it all).

No it isn’t mandatory. I didn’t sign up for orientation until late july… and I participated in a day orientation 3 days before school started. It wasn’t bad at all, however it was hard to get the classes I wanted because they were filled up. But I filled my schedule and did fine anyway.

The deadline for housing and commitment is may 1st however. Cannot be any later

Does anyone know how CP gets our AP Credits? Do we have to sent them ourselves?

When you take the AP test, they will ask you which colleges you want to send your scores to. You don’t really have to do anything. If you didn’t chose a college, then you can choose to send it later by phone. That costs money though.

yodelo, assuming you are taking AP courses now, when CB sends your scores this year, they also include any from previous years. If for some reason UMD doesn’t get them, then you’ll need to have CB send them. That’s the only way they give you credit.

You’ll be able to look at your unofficial transcript to see what AP courses they’ve got listed for you. Also, on the day that CB releases AP scores via phone, save yourself the $$ and check your UMD transcript…it will list your scores from the May tests.
