I know all the dates and that’s cool.
BUT I was wondering whether or not orientation is optional,

meaning do I have to go?
My parents are skeptical of letting me go to Boston again,
seeing as I just got back yesterday from the open house (which I didn’t attend).
Therefore, with rising airline prices and it being pretty far from my home, CHICAGO!,
do I really NEED to go to orientation/ is it mandatory?

I’m assuming it is, since they do a whole lot of jazz there.
Thank you in advance ! [=

I believe that it is mandatory that you attend an orientation session, seeing as this is when you register for freshman year courses. You cannot do this on your own. Trust me, you absolutely do not want to miss orientation, for a number of reasons.

haha that's exactly why i didn't go to open house, because i knew i would also have to pay to go to orientation. oh well, i'm pretty sure it's mandatory and even if it isn't i don't see why you would want to miss out on it. you also get your student id there and stuff.

Orientation is mandatory.

I mean yeah sure nothing like that could truly be "mandatory", I actually know a few people who missed out for various reasons but it would be one hell of a burden. Go to orientation. As a number of people have said you do a lot of important stuff there such as registration for classes which you cannot and would not want to do by yourself and you get your terrier ID which you need the first day you check into your dormitory. You also take the BUWA which the BU writing assessment so they can figure out what writing class level you can take and just a lot of other really important information not to mention any friends you may make. Heck, some of those in the earliest orientation groups have found roommates during this time.
