What are my chances of getting in with a 2.6 GPA from SLU, a 4-year private university?
You have a decent shot, I believe it shouldn’t be a problem, since you’re above 2.5
@candycrusher04 I’ll give it a try!
Decent. As far as transfer apps go, you need a pulse and a wallet to get in. I’ve never heard of anyone getting turned away.
I have a 2.86, first gen college student, applying to the pre-neuro major, & have a ton of volunteer experience 150+hours / clubs. I am still afraid that my gpa is not good enough.
I also have research experience with neuroscience
hey just wondering if you got accepted? I’m applying for spring 2017 and will have around a 2.6/7 also!
I was initially cautious to reply since I am an international student transferring from a Times Top 100 University and that I do not have an average. All I know from the websites calculations, it is on 2.7/2.8 range but in United Kingdom it is truly different since 1st grades do not count towards degree and the weight of courses change every year etc.
But I think it is worth applying if you have great extracurriculars that fit to their criteria (in their website they specify which qualites would be considered into admission - leadership, talent etc).
If you come from a decent school that is more or less the same quality.
Write a personal statement which reflects your level of knowledge. Show that you are the one that they are looking for. I treated my personal statement as an academic interpretation of field rather than the personal story. Because academic interpretation hints your personal qualities. Of course, explain about yourself but not too much.
I applied to not overly competitive major (Psychology) but still It was in Top 50 worldwide.
In short, I think every grade above 2.5 has a chance but it really depends on how you stand in the pool (Obviously a 3 GPA individual would have more chance if they are basically the same except their grades)
And I think they reply sooner if you are admissable. It received my letter 5-6 days later once every file was submitted.
