Hey guys, I’ve applied to both schools for transfer(coming in as a sophomore) from a 4-year not so great school.

I’ve been accepted to OSU and I’m still waiting on UW.

I’m a chemistry major. I’m planning on pursuing dentistry, pharmacy, or medicine. I’m an out of state student. I’m considering business or economics as a minor(hence fisher and foster schools of business)

I’m having trouble deciding. Just tell me about the student life, alumni life, and experience. I’ve researched enough about both schools to write a senior thesis on it.

ALSO: What is the best dorm at OSU for an out-of-state student who is serious about his studies but knows how to have fun?

I think OSU is building some new chemistry buildings. My son has been there for 3 years as chem engineering/pre-med and he loves it. His work load is challenging but not crushing. There are plenty of opportunities for research, travel, volunteerism, sports, and entertainment, shopping, etc. The student body, instructors, and administrators are really friendly and helpful. The weather is decent. This past year we practically didn’t have winter.

My only complaints are that the housing is cramped, there is crime around the off-campus areas, and financial aid can be weak. Also, it is not a great university for someone who needs hand-holding. You need to have a plan, take the initiative to see advisors and instructors as needed, and seek out opportunities rather than waiting to have them handed to you.
