Other NC'ers ...

Hey! I've been really interested in talking to other NC'ers on here, though I haven't really got a chance.

I'm interested in finding out where other people from NC and especially other people from your high schools are going to college.

I'd just like to see what's happening college-wise with people from my home state. I'll start.

Place: Asheville

Number of UNC acceptees I personally know: 7ish
Number of UNC rejectees I personally know: 1
Number of UNC deferrals I personally know: 2
Stanford: 1 accepted
Yale: 1 deferred
Harvard: 1 deferred

Place: Rockingham, Richmond County
Number of UNC acceptees: 8
Number of rejections: 2
Number of deferrals: 3

Place: Charlotte
UNC Acceptees: um, about 15?
UNC Deferrals: 4
UNC Rejections: 1

Duke: 1 accepted
Yale: 1 deferred

These are IB seniors. About 20 applied to UNC EA, 5-10 RD.

Charlotte Person: I'm curious: Do the Charlotte schools (Providence, North Meck, especially Myers Park) send like 30+ kids to UNC? What about Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and other highly competitive schools? Do you know if anyone from Charlotte was accepted there?

I was just curious. Charlotte has such a good reputation.

southeastern NC

7 accepted
1 I'm not sure about...

jellybean24- I go to Independence, so I don't know a lot about the other schools besides a little bit about Myers Park. I do know that Myers Park usually has about 3-5 or so HYP admits. About 5 get admitted to Duke/Stanford as well, I think. Quite a few end up at UNC. Here's the link for where last year's IB students ended up: http://www.myersparkibmatters.com/Graduates.htm

As for the other schools, I'm not sure...There's a person that goes to North Meck that got deferred from Yale with great stats, though. There's a few others from North Meck applying to Penn, Columbia, etc.

wake county, i know like 3 deferrals and probably upwards of 70 acceptees at my school. most years at least 50 people from my school end up at UNC.

i'm from wake county as well (cary). i'm sure a ton of people at my school are going to unc. it kind of sucks, actually. i don't want to go to college and be with the same exact people i was with in high school. since there're so many people from north carolina there, it seems like everyone's just gonna hang out in their old high school cliques :/

North Meck sends tons and tons of students to UNC every year - definitely more htan 30

I heard from somewhere that our school has one of the highest number of acceptees even though our high school isnt even that big (1300 students; 290 senior class) we had 36 acceptees for just early admissions.

Durham (NCSSM) {I live in Charlotte when I'm not at school}

UNC accepted: 25+ {at least 100 went to UNC last year}
UNC rejected: 0
UNC deferreed: 0
MIT: 4 accepted
Yale: 2 accepted
Duke: 3 accepted
Stanford: 1 deferred
Harvard: 1 accepted, 1 deferred
Wellsley: 3 accepted

Weddington High, Union County (South of Charlotte)

UNC accepted: 15+ (one morehead semi-finalist)
UNC rejected: 2
UNC deffered: 4+ (its crazy who they deffered vs accepted, i was shocked)
Wake ED accepted: 3 (of 4 ED)
Duke ED deffered: 1 (of 1 ED)

NCSSM! I have several friends who go there. Yeah, not surprising there are a lot of MIT students ... amazing rate for Yale though. I didn't think they actually admitted people.
