Out of State chances at UNC-Chapel Hill

I just decided that i am going to apply EA to this place, because it seems like a really good place to go.....

SAT: 1330
gpa-3.9 weighted
taken hardest courses offered at school
EC's-Key club, executive renaissance club, honor society Spanish club, 500+ hours of volunteering at hospital, 30 of those in the ER

Idahoan, asian (indian)

Um. since they dont do SAT II's, no point listing any here.

If you're out-of-state about a 50% chance

bump! Anyone else!! I think this might be my #1/#2 choice....depends on what i get on my SAT..

hey. im indian too :-). and im also applying to UNC. i really want to get in

Gosh lots of kids are applying to UNC-CH! Yeah I love it there too =)

But as I posted previously, it's really hard to get into. It's not because your stats aren't good enough, it's just that NC has those darn laws about quotas! So if you were from NC, you'd pretty much be in. For out-of-staters, it's going to tough competition but you never know if you're gonna make it in! So still go for it and you may be surprised!

Agree with others about the out of state chances... my cousin with a 1340, varsity sport every season, straight A's, great recs, summer internships, etc was rejected from UNC but got into Yale(didn't go, but got into). You are certainly qualified to go there but it is a crap shoot, really.

Good luck!

because they have URM quotas, you have a good shot.

if you were white, then you would not.

damn affirmative action!

I didn't think Asians were considered URM's...I am Chinese-American by the way.

yea i dont think Asian indians are URM...i dont suppose being from Idaho will help will it? does UNC consider geographical residence?

bududy bumb

some colleges may... indians are definitely URM.... and with your stuff, I couldn't worry about it. =]

Dunno.. indians are Asian... but don't you check Native American?

yeah, if you’re OOS, its about a 50/50. while a 3.9 is high gpa, unc freshman out of staters average over a 4.3
