Other Programs Besides MM

It's a little late but I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of graduate educational programs for music or fellowships, that are not master's.
Like New World, Civic, ACJW, etc... Those are the only three I know but is there more?

Thanks

Google residencies, one year programs and the like. Are you looking in US or Europe or Canada? There is plenty of info online…

There are Artist Diploma or Performance Certificate programs at many schools and conservatories.

Thank you! I’d love to hear more about it if you think maybe you could name a few? I was thinking US only.
The only other I can think of is the San Francisco Orchestra Academy, but it’s not a fellowship as one has to pay tuition. Thanks Mezzo’sMama, I was thinking of programs independent from schools mostly.

For an instrument?

Strings. 10char

There is one in Chicago and my D knows a violist in it right now. I’ll try to get the info from her and pass it along when I do.

There is the American Youth Symphony in LA. [The Orchestra | American Youth Symphony](http://aysymphony.org/about-ays/the-orchestra/)
… the American Youth Symphony provides professional training for musicians through a wide repertoire and varied styles of music…. Competitively selected, Fellows receive a full scholarship… Designed to challenge, nurture, and inspire, the American Youth Symphony is a musical laboratory where Fellows not only master their parts but also develop a deep understanding of the musical score. At the American Youth Symphony, we aim to create leaders, innovative thinkers, and articulate communicators for the 21st century and beyond.

Look at the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. It’s the training branch of the Chicago Symphony and my D’s friend seems to really be enjoying her experience there.
Good luck and please keep us posted!

There are one year programs (and short courses, master classes) in Europe and particularly the UK.

Thanks a lot for these suggestions. I have a few older friends from festivals, chamber music, etc… in those. I guess those 4 orchestra training programs + ACJW are the main ones. I’m surprised there isn’t more, or maybe there is?
About NWS, I was wondering, it seems that they often have big teachers fly over to give masterclasses, as well as all sort of workshops, etc… but does anyone know about weekly lessons (either through NWS or them paying for you to study privately)?
I know Civic gives scholarships for people to go to Northwestern and some other Chicago schools, and there are a bunch of people one could study with from CSO anyways, but it doesn’t seem that there are so many teacher opportunities in Florida right?

My daughter was trying to put together a program in place of a master’s, and the end result is, that she is applying for a master’s. Money can be an issue, for sure, but if that is not the reason you are looking for alternatives, perhaps you could consider the MM afterall.

I’m definitely applying to a few MM programs, but I was thinking for maybe after if I don’t have a job I’m happy with, or even some I could apply to now. It seems it could be more productive to spend time actually playing in orchestra a lot and getting orchestra coaching rather than having to take many theory, history classes, etc… to fulfill MM requirements since I already took so many (8 years of pre-college, now going to conservatory). Anyway, more attractive than more schooling.
