I am interested in applying to schools similar to Wesleyan...liberal arts, no core classes, on the East Coast or in the Tri-State area, intellectual/politically active student body of anywhere from 1,000-5,000 students. Besides Vassar, what schools fit these preferences?

Also, if anyone is familiar with Wesleyan and Vassar, could you please point out the differences between the two institutions?
Thanks!

Some schools that come to mind (of varying selectivity): Amherst, Swarthmore, Haverford, Barnard if you are a girl, Bard, Hampshire, Skidmore, Goucher. I really like Skidmore as a safty-ish school for someone who likes Wes and Vassar. Also, Brown and Tufts might be a bit bigger than you want, but are pretty small for unis, and do sharre some traits with Wes (esp. Brown).
