How bout Squidward...Cookie

HEY XCHEFMIKE! THANKS FOR KEEPING IT FUN!! :)
With the last week jitters til I-Day some of us need all the amusement we can get!

[quote]
SandBlaster? As it'll be the shortest member of the Class?

[/quote]

Sandblower, unless that has changed, too.

No...doubt it's changed. I'm sure I have it wrong. blaster...blower...whatever.
I'm not a mid. Just a mom (that hasn't read all the books yet, and probably won't). AND in that forgets everything age group...
SHEEZ!!
S would be mortified, regardless.

As for the dog. Other thoughts...
Sparky?
Lubber (if he doesn't enjoy the water...)
Sinker (that's what we should have named our first Boston Terrier. Hubby threw him in the lake and he sunk like a rock. All we saw were bubbles. My pup...I was NOT amused. But, he surfaced (finally). I bought him a life jacket, and we commenced to teach yon' doggie to swim. Dear Lord! Alas, he is Otto.. Of course, our other dog is Toot. You can only imagine his forte'.)
SCUBA?
Star?
(Just make sure it's something you want to yell through the neighborhood when s/he is out loose and is refusing to come in. Same test I gave to kid's names, actually. "Would I feel stupid yelling [name] off the back deck?")
Fun post!!

Scuba Doo!
SNAFU, TARFU, FUBAR, or BOHICA
Tee (short for t-court)

I vote SALTY!

Paws down!

Or how about that old Native American word for "lucky pooch"...

Allpawsondeck ... :p

I can't believe nobody has said...SAILOR

I vote for PHILO T. McGIFFEN. A perfect name for a USNA doggy!

I also thought PHILO would be kind of a code name for the dog; only a few enlightened individuals would recognize the name. I originally suggested Cracker Jack, but on second thought if that name was shortened to "Crack," your neighbors might get the wrong idea when you're calling the dog...

How about PJ... as in paul Johnson... or Kaipo ( QB).

How about Joe Gish?

I know of Philo but cannot remember who Joe Gish was. It rings a bell but all those years of painting with the epoxy green mixed with the Navy gray has burned a few brain cells. That or the floor stripper on the 0-3 level of the Ike near CIC

Joe Gish AKA Joe Mid

Out here in the West almost all of our Border Collies are working dogs. Since this doesn't seem to be his/her fate, how about "Goldbrick" :)

Actually he will be gainfully employed keeping the damn canadien geese out of the yard. They are winged rats. They used to be endangered but they made a huge comeback and they are the bain of every golf course, shopping mall parking lot and anywhere there is water and grass. leaving little reminders of there visit everywhere that stains the concrete.

You know Mike - last year for a special gift for our church conference grounds we ordered a pair of swans --- the site sold both swans and border collies. I asked the guy why this combination and he said the same thing you are saying that the upper midwest is infested with the geese and the collies are the best there is to keep them away.

I guess this gives a whole 'nother category of name ideas for us to continue to keep this thread going!

Try to keep it Navy. Don't want to Jinx the process. I am about to leave to pick up the boys, Mike has sea trials today and Matt has the last day of Navy Wrestling camp. Should get into crabtown around 01:30 tommorow and we are bunking at a friends house this week. They Both Start Navy Football Camp on Saturday. It is fun for them to be this age! Matt is going into 8th and I get to do this all over again in a few years.
Mike

how about Wilco?

and get another named Roger?? (-:

The short ones were/are [?] "Sand Blowers" not "Sand Blasters" ... that said, how about:

Admiral
Bancroft
Bilger
Buzzard [after the "eagle" on a Mid's NCO chevron patch ... this nickname dates back at least to the 20s]
Ed [for extra duty]
Gedunk
Plebe
Ploob
Supernumerary
or
emperor george dubya shrub the first ... nah, I wouldn't do that to a dog !
