Out of State Acceptance Rate

Good points Alexandre. As someone who has barely escaped from the high school drama that surrounds college admissions, I still find it hard to accept the fact that these are merely assumptions! But I will take your word for it until I am in an older/wiser position haha

“LesDiablesBleus/Goldenboy from Duke”

So lesdiablesbleus/goldenboy is now permanently banned from the Michigan boards? Did I read that correctly? :-)

Yes, I will delete all his posts on the Michigan forum. He is too disruptive and adds nothing constructive whatsoever. I will delete any post of his that I see on the Michigan forum.

alexandre, that seems a bit extreme to ban goldenboy… although i disagree with some of the stuff he’s said, i don’t think he’s trolling or anything.

I agree with nub that banning Goldenboy is a little extreme. The problem with Goldenboy is that his individual posts are IMHO right on the line of being acceptable, but not crossing over into unacceptable. The problem is that his never ending stream of always being as negative as possible to Michigan is tiresome but still I don’t quite think he crosses the line. And as much as I hate to admit it, occasionally he makes some good, albeit always critical, points about Michigan.

Don’t agree that banning goldenboy was extreme. There’s honest discussion, and then there’s posing. Goldenboy was a poseur with a negative agenda; just try to stir up as much negative half-truth and innuendo as you can about a particular school. It’s silly, immature, and ultimately corrosive of the ability of others to have an honest exchange of views and information.

I appreciate the various points of views. But unfortunately, goldenboy has an agenda and a genuine disrespect for Michigan. There is a clear insecurity and negativity about his posts that almost always end up being insulting and degrading to Michigan and lead to highly disruptive and destructive debate. As moderator of this forum, he is impossible to deal with.

Really don’t agree with you on this one. I know that College Confidential has no obligation to keep his posts or allow him to make new posts, but I really think that you are being too extreme. Even if allowing this sort of thing makes your job a little bit harder, I really don’t think it’s in CC’s best interest to take this attitude of censorship. I guess it’s just my opinion that someone shouldn’t be banned (or whatever you are going to do) for being overly “negative”.

I agree. I think he may be a bit naive with regards to some of the things he says, but I really think it’s far from a closed shut case that he’s a ■■■■■. To say that he hasn’t added anything constructive is completely untrue.

Doesn’t have to be and really shouldn’t be.

Overly strict mods is a CC staple

I agree with Alexandre. goldenboy will not disappear from CC. You will still be able to read his no so subtle and constant anti Michigan posts in the general forum areas.

Either way with Goldenboy is fine with me. My approach was never responding to anything he said, which just eggs him on…and on and on. If he were ignored, he would post much less.

I’m more worried about those who make racist and political posts.

I am glad that Goldenboy has been banned. Very disruptive and added nothing to the discussions.
