My child is has her heart set on being a Gator. Is it more difficulty to gain admission as an out of state student? Would she be better off attending Sante Fe CC, then trying to transfer over? Thanks.

4 years ago I was told by an admissions officer that OOS admission standards were the same as in-state. I see no reason to doubt that...in fact, given the issue with tution, in may be easier to get admitted as an OOS applicant. Regarding transfer from CC...it is my understanding that this is going to get more difficult in the future, so it may be bad to plan for this.

She should definitely go for it. Worry about the Santa Fe option if she doesn't get in. It is pretty generally accepted that transfer admissions are to be drastically cut, so she should focus on getting the best record she can to be accepted to UF as a freshman.

There is just not enough space anymore. Transfers are going to be reduced drastically. From here on out I have read that SFCC is no longer the back-door into UF like it used to be.
