Is there any advantage for students to attend Santa Fe Community College in order to transfer to UF? I hear a lot of UF rejects decide to take the Santa Fe route rather than attending another university or local community college. Is there really any preference for transfer admissions for SFCC students over other schools? Wouldn't any CC associates degree transfer be treated equally?

Thanks!

I think that their is an unwritten agreement that says that SFCC get's first crack at the openings that are available in each department. Keep in mind UF still does have somewhat of an obligation to the student of Alachua County. Also the number of CC transfers to UF has been declining significantly as of late. (however, keep in mind that I was not a CC transfer so I am not an expert on all the specifics of UF's transfer policies.)

The advantage of SFCC is that they already know what pre-recs that are required for each specific major that a student will want to transfer into. So in essence they offer some classes that are very limited in the grand scheme of the Community College system.
