So I've heard people say UCF is harder to get into if you're an OOS student, and I have also heard it's easier because they want the money and the diversity. Can someone please tell me what the truth is and your opinion on it? Thanks :)

Like 90% of the time it’s a disadvantage. The state of florida pays colleges X dollars to keep in state students here for college…taking away from spots from oos students. Thats why you generally have to have higher stats to come to Fl same as its harder for a Fl student to get into UNC

hmm that’s interesting, i never knew they got paid to keep in state!! thanks for the insight!

Well it’s a combination of those state funds and the fact Florida students (in state) have paid taxes into the school system for years…so the edge is given to them…

I visited for an open house and during the presentation they said that they can only have 10% of students be from out of state. I’m sure for the same reasons that sifantic gave.

just to clear up for anyone wondering… i got a straightforward answer from an admissions officer themselves, and they said they don’t even look at residency while deciding and they only look at it for billing purposes.
