UW GPA: approximately 3.8

W - 800
M - 710
TOTAL = 1410/2210

SAT IIs:
Spanish - 770
Writing - 750 (not sure if this matters)
Math IC - 700
Bio - 560 (I know, I know...it was freshman year.)

ECs:
School newspaper (10th = writer, 11th = entertainment copy editor, 12th = managing/copy editor)
Nat'l Honor Society (President)
Tutoring club for students at the middle school (founder and co-president)
Camp counselor for 4 summers (volunteered one year)
Studying French independently and hoping to take it next year as well as AP Spanish

I'm a white female from New York. I moved from Houston, TX when I was 13 if it matters. I go to a high-ranking public HS. They don't rank students, but my counselor's guess is that I'm in the top 7%.

I've pretty much taken the most rigorous courses offered (a lot of honors, 6 APs total assuming I don't drop any next year). Thus far, if I get any B's in high school, it'll probably be this year for physics, but it would definitely be 88 or 89.

I want to major in either linguistics or int'l relations.

Thanks! UVA is my first choice, and I've never visited UNC, but I'm told the two are very similar. Why are my chances better here than UVA?

prodj88, I got a 10 on my essay (I really don't think it was anything spectacular), but I uploaded it as an image if you want to see. I think my 800 just came from the way I am with grammar--I only prepped for math. I'm sure doing old practice Writing SATIIs would help since I found it to be more difficult, but that's definitely not the popular consensus.

lol No. The only tip I have is to make it long, which I didn't really manage to do (don't know if you saw the NYT article...). It makes a big difference.

first time I've seen someone post using that new SAT score system, I guess the days of the 1600 are gone. And they give you your essay back too, thats pretty cool.

o and if I could add, why did u take the SAT II 1c and no the IIC version, but if you've taken the AP Calculus exam than nevermind because credit with that test is better than the SAT II.

Yeah, I'm going to take Calc BC next year so I should be alright. I took the 1C after sophomore year; I guess a lot of us were jsut encouraged to do so haha.
