Out of State experiences?

lillymonkie,

Aside from cost, transportaation to and from should be considered, too.

From suburban Chicago my daughter went to school in TX, about 1200 miles away, direct flights from Midway.

No winter helped her decision.

Hmmm that’s another thing I should be thinking about, transportation, if I do get in to and go to an oos school I’ll need a way to get back. Any other things I should consider? Because to be honest so far I’ve only been thinking about tuition and the location :stuck_out_tongue: thinking about the smaller and important details is something Ill start doing from now on :)

It seems like most of your experiences have been positive which make me feel a little better, I’m nervous about getting into a school and even more nervous about making new friends. I’m also a bit shy and have never really been independent so I can’t wait for college. I want to show my family I’m not some naive little girl can’t wait :)

You need to think about storage and transportation for your stuff as well. If you make friends from the area they may be able to help you with this; if not, you might have to rent a storage unit for the summer.

If you are flying to school, make sure you have plans for getting from the airport to campus.

Live on-campus freshman year. You are more likely to meet people through housing or activities than through classes.
