Out of state scholarship/waived admission

So basically i want to attend UH where the tuition is upper 30K a year for out of state that can be waived down 10k by the out of state student receiving any scholarship before entry. I’m under the impression the only way to get a scholarship is to be a texas resident, is this true? Can i receive the same scholarships as texas residents even though my parents are LA residents technically making me an LA resident? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Very interesting. Seems if you can get one college to want you they will waive OOS tuition. First come, first served. Did you apply already?

Want to pay in-state tuition—but you live out of state? You may be entitled to an out-of-state tuition waiver if you are a:

Nonresident of the state of Texas AND
Recipient of eligible UH or individual college scholarships totaling more than $1,000 annually (see college and/or department for more details).
The waiver allows you to pay tuition at the same rate as a Texas resident—a savings of thousands per semester. Waivers are limited, so we encourage you to apply as early as possible.

So then you’d go to the College scholarships page and apply to any of those that you might qualify for

Thank you for the help. At which point should i fill out an application for the scholarship? I’m in my first year in community college for general studies and plan on transferring 2 years from now.

You will have to search for the colleges/department pages and read each and check eligibility. Some of those awards are only for current enrolled students. You will have to find ones that transfer students are eligible for.

As i look on the page it appears that only current UH students are eligible for scholarships. Cant find scholarships for
transfer students anywhere
