Out-of-State students?

I live in Florida, but I wanted to apply to the University of Houston and I saw that they have an out of state tuition waiver, but one of the requirements is confusing...
-Recipient of UH or individual college scholarships totaling more than $1,000 annually.
What does that mean?
And also what are other financial aid options for going out of state?
Thanks!

That means if you get at least a $1K scholarship from the school you also get awarded in-state tuition. There are no special FA options OOS. Most aid is awarded by the school so you need to target your schools well that will offer you aid. Outside that you can get federal aid: a Pell Grant (~$6K) if your family is very low income and a Stafford loan ($5.5K for a freshman). Make sure you look in-state so you can get your Bright Futures option.

Thank you so much!
