There's been a number of posts related to OOS's who have not had a favorable experience at FSU. I'd be interested in hearing from those who have. Especially anyone from the NE who has paid the full tuition. Specifically I'd be interested in the following:

Campus & housing experience including off campus housing. If you had requested campus housing and did not get it, how did it work out?

Feedback on job prospects especially outside of Florida... One concern I have is in the most recent US News (and Forbes) undergrad Business School rankings, FSU isn't even ranked. There are 125 schools and even mid tier academic schools (WVU, Auburn) made the list. I'd think in the surrounding FL area it wouldn't make too much of a difference, but I could see where it would if you were to look for a job in NYC

Any regrets about paying the full freight for FSU... did you get out of it what you expected.

Thanks for any information

FSU has a great business program from what I’ve heard, so I’m surprised it isn’t ranked to be honest. Also I’m just curious, since you’re an OOS student what interested you in FSU for Business instead of the Universities near you? Especially since apparently it isn’t even ranked at all.

@papertiger - Thanks for the response.

I’m actually a parent. As far as why we are considering FSU it’s pretty much circumstance and the campus. My daughter has been accepted to our main in-state university, though for a number of reasons she never really had an interest in it. She applied to a few near by state universities which based on her credentials (low 1800s / 3.7) I assumed she would be accepted but she’s been waitlisted. She has been accepted to FSU and of course she loves the campus. So right now it’s between the in-state and FSU which to this point I hadn’t really looked into.

I checked into that ranking and here is more info on the undergraduate Business program:
[FSU - College of Business](http://www.cob.fsu.edu/Archives/FSU-College-of-Business-rises-in-U.S.-News-World-Report-rankings)

I thought it was weird when you said it wasn’t ranked, because I’ve heard nothing but excellent things about the business program here. I think you were looking at the graduate program not the undergrad program.

I would recommend looking into the special scholarships they have for OOS students:
[FSU Admissions | Freshman | Finances | Freshman Scholarships](<a href=“FSU Admissions | Error 404 page not found”>FSU Admissions | Error 404 page not found)

Maybe that info will help when you all decide what works for all of you as I understand OOS can be costly, but FSU does have a great program for Business.

papertiger… Thanks again for all the info. If ur representative of an FSU student, I’m already feeling better about sending my daughter to the University

Not a problem
I may complain a lot about this college town, but overall I like this University. I’m a transfer student and have been here since Summer 2012 and will be graduating this Fall. I had a lot of interesting experiences here, but you live and learn.
I have professors and advisors that know me by name and don’t treat my like a number and just another student. They actually care here and it’s such a relief. I’ve struggled a bit being a transfer and have been overwhelmed but my professors and advisors have been nothing but helpful and understanding. That is a major plus about this place, people always think going to a large public Uni you can get lost and professors aren’t bothered but it’s not like that at all here.
Even if she does hit some bumps in the road being away from home she can always check out the free counceling services they have here that help all students in all different situations and are used to OOS students feeling a bit homesick or misplaced in the beginning. I hope that all that info will give you some peace of mind.
