Out of State Transfer Evaluation to CSU/ UCs

I am hoping to transfer into a UC or CSU from a public out of state 4 year university. I am worried that after completing my applications I will be automatically denied admission due to not meeting the transfer credit requirements. Has anyone figured out ways to ensure credits will transfer? I know the admissions office will not evaluate credits until after receiving the application, but I don’t know how else to determine if I am even eligible  Has anyone successfully transferred into UCs from out of state??

Have you tried cross checking your courses with assist.org course requirements? Also try checking the course descriptions of the UC/CSU requirements with your University requirements.

You realize as an OOS transfer, you have the lowest priority when it comes to evaluating applicants?

yes I realize I have the lowest priority. I tried to use assist but it appears to only be useful for CCC classes? I will look again. I was just wondering if anyone else had successfully transferred in out of state or if it’s a complete waste.

Yes, ASSIST.org is mainly for California community college course transferability.

For credit from other colleges, you need to figure out what is UC or CSU transferable.

Read https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/transfer/advising/transferring-credits/ for some recommendations on estimating which of your courses is UC transferable.

But note the following:

  • AP and IB credit will be based on the policies of UC or CSU (for credit units; note that UC and CSU differ) and individual campuses or majors (for subject credit), not how they may have been accepted by your current school.
  • Duplication will result in getting credit only once. For example, if you have a 5 on AP calculus BC, but take calculus 1 and calculus 2 at a college, you will only get credit for either the AP score or college courses, not both.
  • Note carefully which campuses are on the semester and which are on the quarter system. 1 semester credit unit = 1.5 quarter credit unit (i.e. you need a minimum of 60 semester credit units or 90 quarter credit units to transfer). If your current school uses a system other than the common credit hour system, you need to convert the credit amounts to that system.

And if admitted you will be full pay. Can your family afford that?

Even though I attend college out of state I am still a California resident so yes it is relatively affordable.
