Out of State Transfer- need information

So I was accepted to PSU -UP in March (YAY!), but I haven't really received any more information on what happens next after receiving the accepted students catalog/ brochure. I have made an eLion account and have chosen my classes for the fall but the account type I have is a friends of Penn State account, not an actual student account. Anyways I'd like to know what else I have to do; I have already started to look for housing as well. I want to know things such as:

When do I get my tuition bill? Will my eLion account let me pay it once it is released?
Do I have to attend the first year student training thing?
Am I really not allowed to have an official student account until I arrive on campus and activate it?
Will I receive more information on Arrival Week soon?
When and where do I send my final transcripts? (IF I even have to send them)
Do I have to wait to set up a PSU email account until I arrive on campus.

I really would like more information on the Arrival Week process for out of state students because I want to start booking flights and all that other good stuff ASAP.

Oh yea I forgot to say thank you for taking the time to read my message! I hope to get some answers soon.

Hey, I’m a transfer student as well, but in-state.
I believe the bill comes sometime in July, maybe mid-month? And yes, I think you can pay for it through elion. Once you have your account se tup, that is. Which brings me to…

You have to get an id+ card at a key card at a station at any [not sure if all of them have this?] of the campuses…perhaps you are closer to one of the branch campuses even if you are out of state? If not, I’d contact them here:
[Getting Your id+ Card](http://www.idcard.psu.edu/IDCard/TheCard/GettingYourIDCard.cfm)

If you won’t be a freshman and are just transferring from another college, you don’t have to attend FTCAP; there also will not be a formal transfer student orientation–this is what I was told at least.

Again, the question about the access acount seems strange; seeing as you might need it before school starts. I’d still call whoever is in charge of id+, or maybe admissions. Your adviser proabbly won’t be able to help much with that, but they might be able to direct you to who can.

From what I’ve gathered, it kind of seems like transfer students are just going to be expected to merge into the swing of things without much guidance–if you need help, you have to look for it; they aren’t going to hand things to you like they do your freshmen year.

Here is where you send your final transcript, and yes, you do have to send it. At least, that’s what I had to do in order for the last semester’s credits to transfer and for my acceptance to become “permanent” (their wording, since my first letter of acceptance said it was “conditional” until they received my last transcript for the year.)

Good luck! Hope this helped. Don’t go based off of just my word though; if you have doubts it would always be best to talk to your adviser or someone more specific related to your questions.

oops, I forgot to put the address as to where you should send your transcript:
Sending Transcripts

“An official transcript must be received by the Undergraduate Admissions Office from any postsecondary school attended. Please send to the following address:”

Undergraduate Admissions Office
The Pennsylvania State University
201 Shields Building
University Park, PA 16802-1294

Okay so I called the Get your ID card people who said they have no idea how to handle out of state students and they transferred me to the bursar office who told me that I have to have a full student account in order to pay my bill and had no idea on anything else so they transferred me to admission who said that they don’t really give much information or guidance to transfers and they then transferred me to student accounts.

The whole point of the story, I was transferred to a bunch of different places and no one knew how to help me.

Are there any out-of state transfers who would know if I have to actually go on campus before the first day of school and activate my account so I can pay my bills and all that other stuff? What have you done so far in the process of moving to penn state?
