Hi-
My daughter and I visited one of these thus far (Slippery Rock) and we are scheduled to visit another next month (East Stroudtsburg).
Both of these universities publish criteria for getting out of state tuition reduction which is what makes these affordable options for her-- also they have D2 Lacrosse and both coaches are interested in her. She and I have been looking at the other universities in the system (West Chester, Kutztown, Lock Haven etc…) and some have the same or similar out of state tuition reduction programs clearly laid out on the websites and others do not.
Is it right to assume they all have these programs, or is it university by university?
She might like to contact some of the others in the system but without the out of state reduction, its not really in the price range for some of them.
Don’t assume anything. Check each college for its policy…in writing.
That is what we have been doing-- but I wondered if some just didn’t publish it. We are definitely more heavily pursuing the ones that definitely have the criteria laid out!
It’s possible the policy is buried on the web site. You can send an E-Mail to the schools Financial Aid office of each to ask.
That is a good idea-- I will suggest to my daughter. Bloomsburg coach seems really interested so if it would work financially then she will probably keep pursuing.
Because you are also looking for athletic money, IS tuition is something the coach many be able to provide even at one of the schools that didn’t post it.
Just watched a game with D2 Indiana (Pa). That’s a really good conference. Good luck.
twoinanddone - yes it is possible.
Actually the Slippery Rock coach told her on the phone the athletes all get in-state tuition there - the published reduction for grades/SAT is a % of that- so definitely a possibility. It is a good conference and she would be pleased to play in it for sure. Her first choice right now is GVSU but SRU and some of these other PSAC schools are very appealing to her as well.
Most of these are right in our affordable range with in state tuition- and right in her athletic level sweet spot too.
She wrote Indiana (PA) as well.
