Outdoor Action

Mmm...Mexico's not that far away. Everyone around here's been, so I guess I should make the trek. Plus I could finally put my Spanish to good use! Yay for not having to talk to my maracas anymore :)

Princeton provides financial aid for OA, and it's totally worth it.

How come I didn't hear anything about this Outdoor Action thing? Did it get sent out in the acceptance package?

oh i dont think they tell u about it now. everyone just knows about the infamous princeton OA =P

No I got a paper about it in the package. One side was OA the other was CA. It was a short description.

I think i'll be picking the easiest trip lol...I'm so weak

how come i've never heard about this indoor action idea...

ilcapo, I am so jealous. I went to Italy for spring break with my school, and I loved it. Have a great time!

I didn't realize that there were fitness levels involved in OA. I'm going to join the canoe desire-ers. Guess I'll have to start working out more.

OA all the way!! Forget about silly CA, IA, JA or KA (whatever these might mean)... Just can't wait: iiiiii

Oh, and about everybody's obsession with showers, please make me understand: will the OA trip take place in a horribly arid and remote location!? Will there be no water? Will our canoes float on rivers of melted chocolate ( mmmm:rolleyes: ) ?

I mean what can you desire more on a frosty morning than a bath in the ice-cold river water: a time when you can be alone (and naked) in mother nature, with only all your trip mates watching your skin slowly turn blue...

sounds just like some sort of initiation ↑

You're a swimming aren't you? What is with Alex Rigi (sp) going to Yale?

Yay for canoers! I can't wait to go on the hiking/canoeing trip...

OA usually takes place out in the mountains somewhere, not like in AZ or anything, haha. I doubt it'll be that cool in the morning, but then again, I'm not that familiar with NE weather (which will be biting me in the butt come October and November and lasting through March).

hehehe i can just see you now phil, frolicking in the snow

yes, in my loincloths...wait...no...

Potatoes?! Where?! Look, it's grass! points and runs away

omg grassssssss
dies in heaven

hahahaha...ha (for 10 purpose)

umm... newbie answer:
What is Outdoor Action, where, when, how much(this probably being the pivotal question)?

Outdoor Action sounds awesome!

BUT

1.) It is pretty hard for me to survive for a week without showers. I practically have an OCD about them. Last time I went trekking it was OK but that was 3 years ago and I didnt have the OCD then

2.) International pre orientation is on September 7th.

So I guess that rules out OA for me :(

yup... me stupid....
my post was supposed to be
newbie question (not answer..... :P)

so, what is outdoor action? (is there a link somewhere?)

P.S. A week without showers? Kool! My record is of 9 ten days without showers, in a speleology camp. It was.....ummmm....... interesting.

didnt you get that sheet of paper in your package?

anyway its from September 3rd to 9th and costs $420...FA available if required :)

http://www.princeton.edu/~oa/index.shtml

Sucharita, don't despair! OA is for everyone! (<- a quote from somewhere :D)

You can choose "Outdoor Adventure trips", where you camp near "our beautiful wooded 275-acre outdoor education center". Very important for you: "Participants will stay in tents on the camp property and cook outdoors. Bathroom and shower facilities are available at the center."

The link...

I hope you choose OA, as i've only heard awesomely things about it, whereas about international pre i only heard that it's really crapy, not to much action at all... And besides, you will have tons of time to get accustomed with everything at Princeton... what's a week + or - ?

I found a great article about OA on the OA side. A must-read for everyone, including those already sold on OA:

Man, that just made me really excited to go. Just four months and three weeks to go...

definitely my kinda' thing
Always wanted to do rock climbing, but somehow never managed to...

Hopefully i will see you all there...
