I earned a scholarship from Kaiser, and when claiming MyAwards, it asks if i have additional sources. Do I say yes and include how much Kaiser gave me? How does this work and can this hurt me by making my financial aid less?

Thank you

You have to tell them outside scholarships or your award could potentially be jeapordized, so say yes and put the amount. When I put in the outside scholarship I got (it’s for this year also, I put it in a month or so ago so it should be the same for you) it took away from my contribution to my cost of school, not the money they gave me. Prior to that I called the financial aid department and they told me that first it will take away from your contribution then parents then loans then the financial aid that you got from them. So you’ll only lose out on aid from them if you get so much money that you and your parents don’t have to contribute or take out any loans. I hope I explained that coherently

Thanks for your answer! Just to make sure I understand…

So my best bet is to say yes and enter my amount? It’s $1,000 dollars. So with that, it just takes away from my parents contribution and won’t affect the aid they are giving me?

Btw, I have a interview as a semi-finalist for the CAAA Scholarship this Saturday (which is also considered an Outside Agency right?) so do I have to wait before I claim my awards?
