Brand new here. Been lurking but finally decided to join. Daughter received her letter on Thursday. She received an honorable mention and was the only one in her category and state so we are more than thrilled!

EW'smom, congratulations to your daughter! That is wonderful news. Hope you join in and stop lurking!

Thank you!

EW'smom-- Congratulations! I am curious how you know that your D was the only one in her category and state? Did the letter mention that? My son's letter didn't say anything about other students.

The list of finalists, honorable mention, and merit winners (and their categories/hometowns) is posted on the NFAA website. Congrats EW'smom!

This is the report I got from my husband who saw the names posted on the website! I think I need to elaborate. She was the only singer from our state. Now, if she will stop checking the mailbox every ten seconds for pre-audition results. This is such a tough time of year!

Hi so i recieved Honorable mention for NFAA...and im curious will this have any affect on college admissions and if so how much?? can someone please shed some light!?? thanks!=D also are other scholarships connected to this one??

There are other opportunities for scholarships of different kinda that are offered to NFAA winners. You wil be notified as they come up. It means that you are already in the top 10% of a pretty talented group, and schools definitely like to see these awards.
You can add it under "awards" on your resume, and resubmit the updated resume to the colleges to which you've applied. Congrats! Wouldn't expect it to override your audition in terms of effect, but up against someone similar, it might give you a boost.
