OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS questions!!!

i called the Fin aid office today to see how they were going to work out the fact that some of my scholarship checks won't be processed before the payment is due. they said to just fill out and outside scholarships form and let them know which ones were coming after the deadline and they would waive the late fee for paying that amount. also, they said i could just pay what showed up on the bill and they would give me a refund check when the scholarships came. i'm doing the first since i don't have the money to pay right now anyway.

my question is, the Outside scholarship form has a column for saying whether the award is renewable or non renewable. what does it matter if its only for the 05-06 year. i mean is it just easier for them to know now that i'll have scholarships next year as well? if this is so, the will that affect how much i'll be expected to pay next year?

for example. lets stanford says i have a $4000 perkins loan and $2000 anticipated in scholarships they expect me to win. lets say i won a $4000/yr scholarship renewable for four years. will stanford say that next year i'll have $4000 perkins loan and $4000 in anticipated scholarships? or will it be just $2000 for the perkins loan?

You need to inform them of all your scholarships because that will affect your financial aid calculations. For example, if you just won a $4000 scholarship fornext year, perhaps your Perkins Loan will be reduced or eliminated altogether.

i see. as long as they don't use it against me. i wouldn't put it passed them.
