What's with the huge amount of overachievers posting on this board I mean jeez. Last thing I want to hear about is some snobby kid wavin' a flawless record around asking if he can get into Harvard because he really thinks the other ivy league schools are crap. Seeing all these posts makes me proud to be an underachiever. Can I get an amen for natural ability and intelligence? (with the lack of motivation to use them)
:)

Amen, overachivers are annoying at my school

thank you jnorsky18, any other fellow slackers or semi-slackers out there with an amen?...

I'm a semi-slacker so i'll chime in :) I'm not so much a semi-slacker as someone who is so annyoed with overachievers at my school. One guy was disappointed because he had 1 A, and 5 A+s. He wanted 6 A+s. It's annoying when the girl I sit next to on the bus is upset that she got a 98% on her math test instead of a 100%, and she's also upset over the fact that she only has the 2nd highest grade, instead of the highest, like she's had in every previous math class.

amen celebrian, that kind of obsession can't be healthy, no, it's not healthy......

i guess im a semi. ill skip homework and studing for quizes, but ill furiously study for an hour over a test, or ill work hard on essays/projects. this explains the 6 A-s that i got first quarter :D

i did get into Cornell tho, guess its time to join the work-really-hard-but-dont-achieve-much type of people

aww man, i dont know if you even classify as a semi, i think you're leaning towards the overachiever column pal. nice try though, i'm sure you're a cool guy, just not quick slacker material...

well at least he tried.

i guess that counts for something.

Yeah, that really annoys me when people who have straight A's and solid SAT scores ask what their chances are of getting into schools like Harvard, MIT, and Dartmouth. At least they know that they qualify for those schools. My stats are all over the place, so I have no idea where I have a chance of getting in.

I've taken all honors or AP courses since 9th grade. I'm a band leader in six major ensembles at my school. I'm Student Council president. My grades differ every year (my freshman year and senior year, I had straight A's...my sophomore year, I had two C's and the rest of my grades were A's...my junior year, I had a mix of A's and B's). My SAT scores are good (1340), but not exceptional. My SAT IIs are good except for U.S. History (which I scored a 510, as opposed to the others which I scored in the high 600s).

I have nothing against overachievers as people. I just think that the whole purpose of this message board is to find out what your chances are if you are completely confused about the college process or you have stats that have some ups and downs (and you aren't sure if those are going affect the admission committee's decision). I think that if anyone with a 4.0 or greater, SAT scores exceeding 1500, and an excellent activities record posts their stats up here, he or she is just looking for praise or assurance.

I agree too. I have a 3.86w/3.8uw, but it's a very shaky record if you look at my actual grades. B- for year average in alg. 2, C for 2nd semester alg. 2, B's in every math class I've ever taken past 8th grade. I have next to no awards/ECs, and a 185 psat, which is one of the best in my grade, but the most it'll do is give me national achievement commended. I'm also not even in the top 15%, much less the top 10%I avoid the WAMC forum now because it's so depressing,

although you're probably more overachiever than not, you make some good points randomperson. seeing most of the posts on this board just makes me realize how much praise and butt-kissing some people need. most of the posts, although not all, seem like an attempt to show people how great you are... that's not the purpose of this board though. the purpose is for people who are not sure about their chances and are probably less likely to get in to ask others about their experiences and comments on their chances. oh well... i guess as long as there are people out there who love to kiss ass, and people who love to feel superior, it wont stop.

i think my chances of finding a true underachiever/slacker on this board are minuscule... oh well... prove me wrong, someone step up and admit it...

ever think that people who are truly slackers aren't going to want to run up and admit it? just my 2 cents.

i embrace it, it's just part of who i am... if people can't own up to it that's their problem. i'm just tired of hearing about all these people who care way way to much. i also don't think i'll get many because they probably wouldn't be posting here anyway.

that's my point! and you're applying to JMU !!

All slackers are the real overachievers!!!
Slacker will rule the world!!!

well it's true. Look at all the CEO's, I mean how many want to an ivy?

i am the epitome of underacheivers. straight B's and a few A's, but cause of how school does GPA (81 - 3.1, 82 - 3.2, 83 - 3.3...etc..) i have a 3.5 GPA, no studyin for SAT's but got a 1400....lol...

ok i know i belong here, good thing u mad ea thread like this, but this is nothing to be proud of u know.. the world doesnt run for guys like us.
