I'm just trying to get some opinions from people that are attending or have attended Wake Forest. I plan on majoring in business and my top 3 schools are BC, Wake, and Villanova, although BC might be a bit of a reach. I went on juicycampus.com (which was probably dumb) and it changed my impressions of the school, although I've been told that it doesn't accurately represent the school in any way. What is the Greek life like at Wake? I don't plan on rushing, and obviously I don't want to be singled out or left behind if I'm not part of a fraternity, but it seems like Greek life is a huge part of the school (at least compared to BC and nova). Post away.

First, disregard juicycampus entirely. I'm afraid that I can't tell you a whole lot about Greek life, particularly fraternities. I didn't rush a sorority, and I never really felt ostracized because I didn't, though the majority of girls are in sororities. I feel like there's even less pressure for a guy to rush, but I can't guarantee it.

Last I heard, 30% of guys were in fraternities and around 50% of girls.
We have 12 fraternities and somewhere around 6 sororities.

Juicycampus does not represent what the Greek Life at Wake Forest is like. I am in a fraternity and I still have friends who are in other fraternities and are independents. The whole greek system is very lax, all the parties are open.

I don't think it matters if you're in Greek or not at Wake. Going Greek is right for some people and it isnt for others.

i was considering bc as one of my top 5 and i visited all my top 5 campuses and i initially thought bc looked good but throughout the day it just seemed really boring and dreary on campus. but i did like that it was in such close proximity to a major city. then i visited wake and i decided that it was where i wanted to go just based on the overall vibe of the campus as well as the size

and wakes ranked higher than bc so i dont know why you think bc would be a reach

It could be because of selectivity. I'm guessing Wake has a higher selectivity rate than BC.

Also, jckund might be from an area where a lot of kids apply to BC. That would also make it harder.

I'm from NJ, so a lot of people do apply to BC. But BC's acceptance rate is only like 27% as opposed to ~42% for Wake Forest. Remember, rankings don't mean everything, but BC is ranked higher in business. They receive a lot more applications than Wake does (30k+), so that could be another cause for the higher selectivity.

But yeah, my top tier list right now is like BC, Wake, Villanova, and U Richmond.

A lot of people from NJ apply to Wake as well.

BC - 14
Wake - 21

BC also has much better finaid if that is a concern.

Financial Aid is not a concern. I'm not necessarily looking to compare schools, all I did was state that BC was much more selective in terms of students accepted into the school. I want to just get an overall feel for students' impressions of the school.
