Overcome by rejection?

Mainly because my friend got into my dream school, and it's not even his top choice. I wanted to get into UPenn.

I'm so bitter, I regret my HS career...
What should I do? I'm not sad, but I always had this feeling I was gonna go to a "brand named" school, but I guess not. I know it's the past and all, everything is set and stone. I mean, this is motivating me, but I feel really uneasy.
Ranked the top 5% of graduating class. Got 1600 on SAT. 22 ACT

another penn reject? same here, and it was my dream school. I’ve dreamed about going there for the past four years and I’ve been going crazy on the UPenn forum here on CC ever since I started my application process. Now it’s all gone. I’m still going to a top college, but the fact that I have to let go of everything I’ve dreamed about is hard, agree? It just makes my future seem so bleak even though somewhere deep inside I know I’ll end up enjoying college anyway…

Just wanted to say something, since you and I seem to have something in common  I hope we meet at Penn for grad school :)

same here :frowning: not for Penn, but for Columbia. I’m going to Northwestern, but like you said, I have to let go of everything I worked so hard for. But I’m actually thinking about transferring, so I don’t know.

I know how you guys feel :frowning: But I’m sure you’re both going to great schools and will end up doing great things, Ivy League or not :)

Rejected everywhere except Northwestern.

Which is fine. But I’m still pretty sad.

Yea… I just had to post something because I couldn’t get the thoughts out of my head. Now it’s slowly going away.
@gashergina, yea, I might try to transfer after sophomore year, I might go to UMich if they accept me… I hear a degree from the wharton school is so powerful, only 1/3 of alumni go back to grad school.
@mediopollito, thanks dude, but I’m not going anywhere super prestigious, or “high named,” probably a good public school. I mean, to me, the only thing i’m missing out at UPenn are bragging rights and “high status.” You can get a good education anywhere if you try. My personal opinion. Well, of course the classes at ivies/tops are technically more competitive and such…

Flipping AWESOME website!

THANKS john9241!

I love this: …And the admissions department that said no? Screw them. You’ve got a life to lead.

HELL YEA BABY!

Don’t mean to offend but 1600 on SATs is rather low… I don’t think this was a surprise :/.

Yea, I know… That’s hella low, in compared to the “average” at the ivies. However, considering the fact that my friend got in with 1800, pretty shocking.

shocking that you didn’t get in or your friend did?..both low SATs for UPenn

I got rejected by 12 schools. Even after 2 months, just writing that makes me feel horrible. Not only did I get rejected by my dream schools, MIT and Columbia, I got rejected everywhere but my safeties. Now I’m having second thoughts about the schools I chose to apply to. The more I’ve thought about it, the more I think I should have totally restructured my list. Of course there’s nothing I can do now but got to Northeastern for a year and transfer. It really sucks because now that I’m really looking into Northeastern, I’m realizing it’s totally not a good fit for me, even though it was the best option I had.

You guys are all going to amazing schools. Be happy, but if it isn’t what you want, you can always transfer. Believe me I know it doesn’t sound good, but it will all work out in the end.
