Okay, for my upcoming college audition, I am required to sing one song written before 1970 and one after. (Up-tempo & ballad, of course) So, I paired "Falling in Love with Love" (up) with "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" (ballad). Now, since one of them is Phantom, should I scrap it? Thank you!

I think the consensus is if you can sing the song as good as Sierra Boggess you are good to go…otherwise choose a different song…

Here is a thread from 2012 that you may find helpful:

Did the school specifically call out either song or either musical? Are you comfortable singing the song from Phantom? Is it easy on your voice, could you sing it nervous or sick? Remember you don’t need to blow the auditors away, you need to show them who you are.

If you are going to sing Phantom you need to blow them away…

Thank you all so much. No, they didn’t say anything about refraining from anything Phantom/Andrew Lloyd Webber related. I just assumed it might not be wise given how massive it is. I’m not concerned about murdering it due to nerves, I’ve performed it many times in the past. I was going to stick with it because I’m very comfortable with “Wishing”. (That wasn’t intended to sound cocky, I promise!) I think I’ll settle with “How Could I Ever Know?” From The Secret Garden and keep “Falling in Love with Love”.
