<p>Hello everyone, so basically about a month ago I was really excited to get a confirmed overnight visit with a current student through University Housing. Unfortunately, I just received an email stating that they are no longer offering overnight visits on thursdays for the winter quarter. Since my scheduled visit is for the night of Thursday, February 13, this situation directly affects me. They did offer to reschedule me on a different night, but the problem is that I already have a flight booked for Thursday the 13th coming all the way from San Diego, CA, so the change fee to do that is ridiculous. Having said that, do any current Wildcats out there have any suggestions for alternative accommodations to consider or possibly taking a prospective Wildcat under your wing? ;) Seriously though, I'd like to leave the option to rebook my flight as a last resort, so any and all input is greatly appreciated! Thanks a million.</p>
<p>That sucks! I have two suggestions - first, call whomever sent the email and explain your situation and see if they can make some accommodations and second, speak to your high school college counselor and see if she has any prior students who currently attend NU and ask her to contact them and ask if you can stay with them. My daughter used to love to have prospies stay with her.</p>
<p>@amtc Thanks for your advice and encouragement! I never would have thought to ask my couselor so I’ll definitely try that. I already emailed university housing back, but I’ll probably try calling them later on today as well. You are really helpful :D</p>
<p>If you don’t get anywhere with housing try calling or emailing your admissions advisor at NU as well, he/she might have a more vested interest in getting you there overnight.</p>
<p>Yes, definitely call the school. They cannot, and will not, leave students they already committed to in the lurch.</p>
<p>Secondly, don’t stress about it. This will all work out and you will have a really good story to tell. Be creative and polite in solving your issue and you will impress someone!</p>
<p>Thanks you guys for all the positive advice! My dad and I called the undergraduate admissions office and they decided to make an exception for me because of my circumstances
