Overnight Orientation?

Will we be staying with our family in one dorm? How would this arrangement work would they be placing us in more private dorms such as suites or would we be placed in the quads and doubles and would have to use the communal bathrooms? Which I guess would give the full experience

Orientation is just for the student! The student is placed in one of the freshman dorms (usually the quads with the communal bathrooms). During the day there are activities to help get oriented to what to expect for freshman year including how to register for classes, placement tests and just general college life questions. The orientation leaders keep it fun with different games and ice breakers so you can start your freshman year at least knowing a few people on campus  At night there are fun events on campus also!

@elizabethdana18 Do parents have any sessions on either day? I know some schools have sessions on one or both days of orientation, but haven’t heard anything about what QU does in that regard.

We live in the area. There are fairly basic motels very close by where parents can stay-- the closest is Days Inn, Hamden (on Whitney Avenue/Route 10 right near Mt. Carmel Ave.) A few miles north on Route 10 (where it’s called South Main St.) is Red Carpet Inn, Cheshire. Right near the Wilbur Cross Parkway/I-15 is the Clarion Hotel.

Yes parents had a day long session I think the second day and I remember there was a reception the night before but I did not attend…too lazy. D met some really nice people in her group and had a blast!

Is there an option to only come for one day if we are unable to stay overnight?

@carlybriem to the best of my knowledge the overnight is a requirement as they lock cars in a lot so people cannot go off campus for that night. I would give the Orientation staff a call at 203-582-8673
 if necessary.
