I have registered for an overnight visit in the near future. What can I expect/how can I make the most of my visit?
From what I know of hosting, i.e., what I’ve observed from my friends who host, you will be paired with a person who has signed up to be an overnight host. You can follow them around or do your own thing. They don’t always get too much advance notice about hosting so they might be in the middle of cramming for an exam, so respect their time. That said, all the hosts are really excited about meeting prospies and will try to be welcoming and fun. Everyone at Rice is very friendly. Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to people as a prospie. You’ll be able to meet a bunch of cool people.

Ehhhh. I mean, don’t go out of your way to scream that you’re a prospie – unless you think the other person is /also/ a prospie, in which case say so because I’ve noticed a lot of prospies tend to stick together.
@DressingIron I disagree! I mean, yeah, don’t scream it. That scares people But if you are eating with your host’s friends and you say “hi my name’s blank! I’m blank’s prospie.” Then they’ll probably engage you and you could have some good conversation! A lot of prospies are pretty shy, which is understandable, but too bad. In fact, I think it’s kind of a shame that they stick together, although it’s useful when the host has classes or homework they need to do.
