what normally happens on overnight visits that the school offers you ? Besides staying in the dorm ? as opposed to any other type of visit

Fballguy, are you asking about athletic overnight visits, where a school is potentially courting you as a team recruit, or overnight visits arranged by admissions for students just interested in the school in general?

If you are asking about sports visits you might want to repost this in the Athletic Recruiting forum. My daughter did four such visits which helped her learn a lot about the schools and feel out the teams.

I did an overnight visit. It was a giant event with about 120 students spending the night. I got to campus super early so I did a little more than other students. I was able to hang around in admissions where student workers went to relax and I spoke to them. They were very honest and pointed out positives and negatives, why they picked the school and they even commented on my other choices.

When registration began we were put in the auditorium and we did 2 ice breaker activities and sat in on a “class” before the “parental departure” one was human bingo and the other was we had to line up by birth date without words.

After that we had host matching and what I didn’t know is that people host more than 1 person at a time! After that we went and put our stuff away and we went hung out in the dorm for a while and then we went to dinner.

After dinner we went to a tshirt making party and had a fashion show-type thing where people walked the runway and then we voted afterwards a DJ came and we partied till like 12. We went back up to the dorm and showered and then we watched tv in the lounge with some other girls till maybe 3ish. The next morning we went to breakfast and went to a Financial aid workshop… yeah that was basically it.

For me, this made a HUGE difference because the people on campus LOVE the prospective students, they’re all so happy to talk to you when you’re on a tour everyone else they tend to ignore you more. You can really see the dynamic of students and how they interact with one another and how involved (or not) RA’s, Admissions, etc are involved. If you have the chance to do it go for it! It is a GREAT experience!

Thanks for all the help ! and yeah it was basically going to be one of those mass student things haha
