I was allowed to override some classes at my local cc. Does anyone if the override policy exists at fsu? If you do, can you please advise me on what to do? I really want to take BSC2011L in the fall to organize my schedule perfectly.

If you do not have the required prerequisite you will not be able to take the class. You can often take a prereq simultaneously. What are you trying to override?

There are no seats left available. I have finished the prereq and have BSC2011C on my schedule already.

To override a full class you have to contact the prof. Usually, they only add people to a class who need it to graduate that semester. Otherwise you have to grab an open seat when one shows up.

FSU has a first day no show policy. So you show up at the various sections’ first class so if there is a no show you have priority to get the seat before it show up on drop/add. But labs are tricky. They may not start the first week, and the first actual lab can be after drop/add.

Email the prof and see where you get. If you don’t get anywhere, VISIT the prof’s office after you get to campus and before classes start, or during drop/add.

If you frequently watch course look-up, classes open and then get grabbed. Sometimes you get lucky. After summer C is over there may be openings during the next drop/add. GOOD LUCK.

Your answer was exactly what they told me. However, I picked up piece by piece while being transferred 3 times - from registrar help desk to the biology department, then to the lab assistant and back to my academic advisor - before I reached the final answer posted by you. Next time I should just ask my academic advisor, or stalk someone named “sunnyflorida,” before I start another journey. Just kidding.

Re: your question on another thread, I think those two classes back to back are fine. If you are a science major you will have four years of science classes back to back.
