anyone going to Cambridge this summer here?

my son is -- he is majoring in Religion and Ethics, minoring in Politics in the Modern world.

Are you going?

My D is still deciding. It's very expensive.

it is very expensive -- first the program cost and then the flight to get there. My son got a scholarship for the program cost, so that made the decision easier!

I have heard excellent reviews of the program -- that the classes are small and intellectually challenging and that the students who attend are interested in the academic subject they picked and come from many different places, so you get different experiences and viewpoints.

I got full scholarship, too.

A friend of mine went. He had a lot of fun but he learned quite a lot in the classes (and he's pretty smart). So it definitely wasn't fluff.

beildiz -- that is great, what classes are you taking? have you bought your plane ticket yet? We are still trying to come up with the money and hope to buy his plane ticket the end of April.

yupp ticket and visa are ready
i also found $1000 from a very wealthy businessman here foor my minor expenses

im taking Business & Finance with Creative Writing Minor

I hope you kid can come too

Is it competitive and does it add any value to the college application?

the scholarships are highly competitive, the program -- not as much. If you can afford the test and have teacher recs that say you are well-behaved and a decent student, you can probably get in. maybe a 3.0 GPA or above.

value to the college application -- depends on how you look at it. If it adds depth or breadth to your current passions, it looks better than sitting by the pool all day. Schools do not see it as something that will increase your possibility of admissions, but it can add to what you already do.

Is anyone else going?

I'm majoring in Philosophy in Science and minoring in Speech and Debate

Two and half weeks to go! :D

My son has his tickets and is looking forward to the Cambridge Tradition -- he is actually arriving in London a couple of days before the program starts and staying in a youth hostel. Anyone else going up early?
