Oxford College

How does Oxford College work? Do you apply separately? Do you get an Emory degree? Do Oxford students have the same academic resources that Emory students do? Is it easier to get accepted to?

All Yes. It is easier to get into and u attend Oxford for 2 years before automatically going to Emory for the remaining 2 years. It basically prepares u for Emory and is an economic solution if Emory is too high of a price

In response to the response....
There are many benefits, but there are also many drawbacks. When you come into Emory in your junior year, everyone has already established thier friendships etc and so all of the Oxford people tend to stick with eachother all four years and (for some reason which I can't decipher) are sort of intimidated by the Emory students. Some people like it, some don't. You won't incur any academic differences, only social ones.

Which one (Emory or Oxford) is generally considered harder or more prestigious?

Are you talking about Emory University in Georgia? Je suis confus

yes, emory and oxford are both in georgia

It has to be Emory if the point of Oxford is to get students to the appropriate level so they can go to Emory. What I have taken from this and past discussions about Oxford is that it is basically Emory-Prep.

Yes, Emory and Oxford are both in Georgia. Emory is in Atlanta, and Oxford is about 25 minutes away in Athens (I think). If you go to Oxford you do NOT graduate from there. It's a 2 year program only, so you get a degree from Emory either way. The point of Oxford is to be a transition school...it's smaller, focuses more on liberal arts, etc. The same caliber of professors teach at both schools, they have similar resources (but Oxford students may have to come to the Emory campus to use them). I can't tell you which would be more prestigous because theyre so different...it's just a matter of how you want to spend your first two years.

Yea, our city names in Georgia become confusing, we like to name stuff after famous cities so we can sound better. We have Oxford, London, Rome, Athens, and even Paris. Oxford College is in Oxford, GA (not England) which is far outside ATL.
